Good afternoon, Alloway Township School families,

On Tuesday, May 27th, the Woodstown-Pilesgrove School District hosted their final Community Chat of the school year. Much of the conversation centered on Woodstown-Pilesgrove, Upper Pittsgrove, and Alloway Township’s involvement in the School Regionalization Efficiency Program (SREP).

As promised in last week’s communication and reiterated during the community chat, we are all committed to being open and transparent throughout this process.  Below is an overview of the key points from the meeting.

• The Boards of Education for the Woodstown-Pilesgrove, Upper Pittsgrove, and Alloway Township have all approved a resolution to participate in a School Regionalization Study.

• We plan to submit a grant application by the end of the day today, May 30th.

• The state fully funds the study and will evaluate governance, demographics, education, and finance.

• A Steering Committee, made up of representatives from all three districts, will oversee the study.

• This committee will choose a research partner and host public presentations in each of the three communities.

• The considerations, recommendations, or findings will not require the districts to take any action other than reviewing the results.

• If a recommendation to regionalize is made, each community will have the chance to vote. Two districts can proceed even if one opts out. The state fully covers the cost of the special election.

In the coming weeks, the three boards of education and districts will begin seeking feedback and preparing to form the steering committees. If you are interested in participating, please feel free to reach out to me at mcallisterc@allowayschool.org.
