Red Ribbon Week
In October, many children across the United States participate in National Red Ribbon Week. The red ribbon is the symbol of an anti-drug effort, that began in 1985, in memory of Enrique Camarena, a government agent who lost his life in the fight against drugs. During Red Ribbon Week, students, teachers, and community members wear red ribbons to show their commitment to create a drug free America. Red Ribbon Week promotes drug awareness and emphasizes the dangerous effects of drugs and why it’s important to choose healthy alternatives in life.
